Stanford House Policies

All rooms rates are based on double occupancy per room and are subject to change without notice. The charge is an additional $20 per person, per night beyond two in the room.
– Check-in is from 4:00 pm. We will do our best to accommodate early check-in pending availability.
– Check-out time is normally 10:00 am. A late check-out may be pre-arranged, subject to availability, for a $60 fee.
– Please call to discuss extended stays.
– Minimum night stays may be required during peak and holiday times.
– All hotel rooms are non-smoking . Noncompliance will result in a $250 surcharge.

Cancellation Policy
The guest will be charged 50% of the total price if they cancel after reservation has been booked. 

The total price will be charged if they cancel in the 14 days before arrival. 

During the peak season and Vermont Summer Festival it is a 21 day prior to arrival.
Minimum charge for any reservation $50 must be 30 days out.
Prepayment
The guest will be charged a prepayment of 50% of the total price after reservation and the remaining amount in the 14 days before arrival.

Children and Extra Bed Policy
All children are welcome.
Up to two children under 5 years stay free of charge when using existing beds.
Any additional older children or adults are charged USD $20 per person per night when using existing beds.
One older child or adult is charged USD $30 per night in an extra bed.
The maximum number of extra beds in a room is 1.


Parking
Free public parking is available on site (reservation for parking is not needed).

Questions about the property that you might ask . . . 


Q) Can we check-in before/after 4pm?
Before – We cannot promise you a room before check-in, but we will happily let you drop luggage off and leave it in the restaurant closet if needed. 

After – Of course! Please call ahead if you will be arriving after 9pm we will run your credit card and leave your key out for your arrival.

Q) How does the deposit work?
A) We have a 2 to 3 week prior to arrival cancellation. If you cancel within the 2 or 3 weeks your card will be charged in full. If you cancel before 2 to 3 weeks you will be charged 50% for the cancellation of the reservation. If you incur and damages in the room your deposit will be charged for the cost of the damages.

Q) Can I have guests over?
A) Guests are welcome to visit anytime during the day. However, please let us know beforehand if you intend to have overnight guests. For safety reasons, we’d like a full name and will snap an image of their ID. All rooms are based on double occupancy in order to offer the most affordable rate for our guests. You will incur an expense for additional guests. We do apologize in advance but extra towels, toilet paper, etc…. it all costs extra money.

Q) Does the room have its own bathroom?
A) It is a traditional motel - all rooms have private bathrooms.

Q) Can we send mail to the motel?
A) Mail at your own risk. We can’t guarantee they will be received on delivery. If no one is home, some companies drop the boxes and we do not guarantee receipt. Other companies will try again another day. It is your choice if you should ship the package.

Q) Can I have a refund if I cancel last minute?
A) Please don't request a full or partial refund if you have to cancel last minute, no matter how small. There is no exception to this rule. We don’t know if your grandma is actually dead or not, and the mortgage has to be paid regardless of if you missed your flight or if it is raining and you wanted to hike or ski. It isn’t fair to reward the person who is the most angry and manipulative a refund when the policy is fairly clear upfront. The rooms are difficult to rebook last minute, and we don't want to have to feel like bad people by denying it. Please be familiar with the cancellation policy for the room you are booking. If you want a more flexible situation please book some place else. There are a few places in town which have more flexible refund policies, but do not message us the day before asking for a refund because we will not be able to help you out.


Pet Policy As of January 1, 2020 we aren't allowing pets 

If you bring a dog you will be charged $250 minimum. Damages to the room unfortunately you will be charged.

For your convenience, we have provided our motel policies for your review while planning your stay at The Stamford.

Seasonal Schedule: January - March weekends are busy, as well as, Presidents week. April thru mid May is mud season. Mid May thru June we are busy with weddings on the weekends. July - August is quite busy. September primarily weekends are busy. October is very busy with fall foliage. A few weekends in November are busy. Early December is slow and the bulk of the business is Christmas week.

Confirmation: We will e-mail, give a phone confirmation, mail or fax you a confirmation as soon as we receive your deposit. Should you not receive a confirmation, it is your responsibility to contact us to ensure we have correct information on file. We make every effort to honor your room request, but very occasionally unforeseen circumstances might require room reassignment.

Cancellations: We are a small business and cancellations affect us significantly. We will gladly refund your money if you cancel your reservation more than 14 days prior to your arrival, less a $50 cancellation fee per room. Refunds for cancellations made within 14 days of arrival, or before scheduled departure date, are given if we are able to re-rent the room. If any full or partial cancellation or change of dates is made within 14 days, regardless of the reason, you are financially responsible for the entire reservation, unless we can re-book your room. Please note you are always welcome to send a friend or family member in your place. Reservations for both the summer VSF horse show weekday and weekends, as well as, Christmas/New Years Week are subject to a six-week cancellation period and $50.00 cancellation fee. Extended stays of five nights or longer between July 1 and October 15 will be subject to a 30 day cancellation policy. Groups occupying five or more room nights are also subject to a 30 day cancellation policy.

Deposit: A full deposit is required on all one-night stays. A 50% deposit is required on multiple night stays. You may use a credit card for your convenience which can be charged the day you make your reservation.

Payment: Payment of your balance is due upon check-in. We accept VISA, Master Card, and Discover. Cash is also welcomed. Current Vermont and Town taxes apply and are subject to change.

Minimum Stays: Minimum stays may be required during peak periods. We have a two-night minimum stay on most summer weekends and holidays.

Policies: For the comfort and safety of our guests we are a non-smoking motel, we don’t allow smoking at the restaurant or by the fire. 

Pet Policy: We do allow returning guests the opportunity to bring a dog in certain rooms. We have an additional $100 pet fee for your stay. If it is 1 day or 6 days the cost is still $100.

Internet Access: Wireless internet access is available for any guest traveling with their laptops.

Additional Charges: All rooms are quoted at double occupancy rate in order to provide you with the best rate, for an extra person you will be charged $20 per night per person, which is to cover the cost of linens. Cots can be set up. You will be held responsible for any damages to our property beyond those incurred with normal use. If smoking cigarettes or marijuana is suspected, you will be charged $250 for the cleaning of all upholstery, carpeting, and draperies. Groups reserving five or more rooms or guests reserving for more than four nights will be subject to a $2.00 per room per night gratuity.

Check-in/out: Check-in is between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. At times special arrangements can be made for early check-in we need at least 1 day prior notice. Special arrangements for late check-ins can be made if we are contacted ahead of time. If you plan a later arrival, please contact us for instructions. Check-out time is 11:00 AM.

Office Hours: Office hours are usually 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM – 8:30 PM (We close earlier in the quiet season) as well as. Special arrangements can be made with us if guests are arriving after the office closes. Kindly let us know if you are delayed.

Restaurant: We serve breakfast and dinner with limited hours. During the busy season the restaurant is open 6 days a week and normally closed on Monday. Off season the hours vary. Off season begins October 20 and normally goes until June 20. We do go away at times and when we do the restaurant will be closed those days. Please contact us ahead if you need to know if the restaurant will be open or closed.

The restaurant is presently closed.


Unfortunately we do not control the weather there are other activities to do in Vermont around your planned vacation if the weather is an issue, please feel free to ask us for options we are happy to help.
